The 38th TI-FRIS Hub Meeting / 54th FRIS Hub Meeting (Hybrid event)

TI-FRIS Hub Meetings are held once a month at Tohoku University to foster researchers who understand and can utilize the importance of interdisciplinary research across disciplines and institutions.
 
Common sense and way of thinking cannot be expected among researchers in different fields. The audience is encouraged to ask questions during the presentation to discuss and deepen their understanding. Please participate actively.

Presentation Title：肝蛭のin vitro培養系確立への挑戦―幼虫はin vitroでどこまで成長するか？―／Challenge to establish an in vitro culture system for liver flukes ーIs it possible to mature juveniles in in vitro culture conditions?
 
Abstract：ヒトや動物に感染する寄生虫は、マラリアに代表される単細胞生物の原虫類と、多細胞生物である吸虫、条虫、線虫を含む蠕虫（ぜんちゅう）類に大別される。原虫類ではin vitro培養系の確立を契機に、薬剤やワクチンの開発研究が飛躍的に進展した。一方、蠕虫類の発育をin vitroで再現することは不可能とされ、研究開発上のボトルネックになっている。本研究では、プラナリア研究との学際融合により実現した「有性化因子の添加」という新規アプローチにより、吸虫の一種である肝蛭（かんてつ）を用いたin vitro 培養系の確立を目指す。
